The goal of Toyota's fledgling luxury division was a luxurious coupé that Toyota could use for marketing outside of Japan - this is how the Soarer became the SC.

Starting shot for the luxury class coupe Toyota Soarer

The Lexus SC 300 is powered by a six-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 2997 cubic centimeters. The maximum output is 228 hp.

In the model Lexus SC 400 a V8 engine provides the drive. This has a displacement of 3969 cubic centimeters and makes 294 hp. The power transmission takes place in both vehicle types by means of a five-speed automatic. The top speed of both models is 250 km / h.

In 2001 the second version of the Lexus SC came on the market. This has the model name Lexus SC 430. This model is no longer a coupé, but a two-door convertible with a folding tin roof.

The engine of the Lexus SC 430 has also been modified. A V-engine with eight cylinders drives the vehicle with an output of 300 hp. Due to the high torque of 439 Nm, it accelerates to 100 km / h within six seconds. The top speed is limited to 250 km / h.

From 2006 the manufacturer made a subtle revision of the model. The front section has also been slightly revised. Changes to the technology have also been made in the version. The engine output has been reduced to 286 hp in order to reduce pollutant emissions. Nevertheless, they are still at 264 grams per kilometer. Instead of the five-speed automatic, six-speed automatic transmissions were installed for the first time in this model series.

Interesting, luxder Lexus SC

All Lexus SC models are not only characterized by high engine and driving performance, but also by the above-average comfort equipment. The interior is elegantly furnished in all models.

The technical facilities are also impressive. The manufacturer Lexus equips all vehicles with the latest safety technology. Nevertheless, the number of new registrations of Lexus SC models has fallen permanently in recent years. However, there are still many fans of this classic who want to drive their vehicles for as long as possible. Due to the high processing quality, the cars from the manufacturer Lexus have a long shelf life.

Lexus RC as the successor to the SC

A successor to the Lexus SC will be available in the foreseeable future. It's the Lexus RC. This model series has a new, modern design and powerful engines. More precise technical data are not yet available, but according to the manufacturer, the Lexus RC models should be more powerful, faster and, above all, more economical than the predecessor Lexus SC models. The market launch is expected towards the end of 2014.

The spearhead of the new RC models will be the RC F be. This has a 5.0-liter V8 engine that should produce well over 450 hp. It differs from normal RC by numerous components. Among other things, through wider tires, an active rear spoiler, large air inlets (and outlets) and carbon components. The front of the RC F is dominated by the "Lexus diabolo grill", in whose honeycomb grid an indicated "F" is incorporated below the Lexus emblem.
